Experiment Codes

Experiment codes are essential in creating well-organised and cross-referenced data and metadata.

In the RoboLab, we have adopted a convention of naming experimental data and metadata using two codes. The first is the overarching project code, which is created at the proposal stage (e.g. 'AULab'), in all caps ('AULAB'). This is the first part of the code. The second component of the code is three-letter, sub-project-specific code (e.g. 'VPE'), again, all in capital letters. Each experiment within the subproject is denoted by a four-digit number (0001-9999). An example is given below:
